RELIGION & VALUES

Dear Parents/Gurdians,

Muslims all over the world are celebrating Eid ul Adha (Eid Qurban/ Feast of Sacrifice). Qurban is a Compulsory Sunnah of our Prophet (pbuh) and it is of great value of reward. The word Adhiyah means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha as an act of worship, intending to draw closer to Allah (S.W.T). This is one of the rituals of Islam prescribed in the Quran and is the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

As Sirius College, we have organised a campaign in collaboration with the Australian Relief Organisation (ARO) for the 2018 Qurban. We are aware that Qurban is a time where humans shred a heart of greed and selfishness, and fulfil it with beauty. We all participate in a very profound cause – understanding, giving and helping the poor and needy. We believe that as a school community and with our collective efforts we can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate! The donations collected from the 2018 Qurban Campaign will be sent to Asia Pacific. The cost of each Qurban this year is $120. Each donation made by students and their families will go forward to your child’s competition consolation prize (I have sent you a letter with all the details).

Please donate as much as you can on this occasion. We should not forget the poor and needy when we are experiencing the Eid whilst they are suffering from conflicts and natural disasters. At the end on behalf of Sirius College Shepparton Campus, I sincerely thank you for your cooperation and look forward to your continued support.
